Yes, you read it right. There is a luxury watch with the thickness of a coin and even holds the record for being the world’s slimmest watch. It’s non-other than the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Ultra.

Bulgari is an Italian luxury brand that was established in 1884. Bulgari released its Octo series in 2012, and the watches in the Octo series are presented in 3 different design expressions, namely Octo L’Originale, Octo Roma, and Octo Finissimo. Out of those three, theOcto Finissimo series is quite remarkable as it has set 8 world records through 8 consecutive watches for being the world’s slimmest wristwatch.

The Octo Finissimo Ultra is the 8th watch of the Octo Finissimo series and was released to mark the 10th anniversary of the Octo series.
The watch’s case is 1.8 mm thick, and its bracelet is only 1.5 mm thick. The watch is made out of Titanium. Due to the lack of space in this watch the designers had to be extra careful and precise in placing movement. However, they managed the space available by adopting various tactics, such as using the seconds wheel of the gear train as the seconds indicator, using two horizontal ratchet wheels as the winding crown and the time adjustment crown. Also, they have used an element called the escapement bridge, which looks like a tourbillon case, to absorb shock from the balance wheel and the escape wheel due to the fact that traditional shock absorbers cannot be placed inside such a thin watch.

There is something even more special in this watch. It’s the ratchet wheel in the face of the watch with a laser engraved QR code in it. What happens when you scan that particular QR code is that it directs you to a NFT owned by Bulgari in the Metaverse. Due to this the Octo Finissimo Ultra is even known as a gateway between two worlds.

The caliber used in this watch is the Bulgari caliber 180 also this is a manual winding watch. The Octo Finissimo Ultra comes with a power reserve of 50 hours and is water resistant up to 10 meters. This watch is priced at $440,000 and is limited edition with only 10 watches manufactured of its kind.
